The most important measurements to consider are the measurement A (also called PZ) and the length of the backplate. Take these measurements to make sure your new uPVC handle will fit.
Lever/Lever
A lever is a rigid bar pivoted around a point (known as a the fulcrum). When you apply force to the end of the lever, it tends to rotate the fulcrum in the direction of the applied force. This rotation multiplies your force and lets you lift or move objects that would otherwise require more force to lift.
The distance between the fulcrum of the lever and the point where you apply force determines the most effective movement. This is called the mechanical advantage. The advantage in mechanical terms increases when the lever is extended. You can determine the mechanical advantage by dividing the distance from the fulcrum until the point at which you're applying the force by the distance between the fulcrum and where you will end the lever.
Levers can have different effects based on the method by which forces are applied. A class 2 lever, for example is prone to turning in the opposite direction once the force applied to it. The forces produced when you push on the handle of a front door will produce rotational effects that are similar to those.
However, levers don't create energy. They simply multiply the force you exert by converting a small amount of effort applied over a long distance into a greater amount of force that is applied over a smaller distance. This allows you to do more work in a shorter period of time, which is why levers are often employed to lift heavy objects or moving large amounts of cargo. The lever principle is also employed in everyday tools such as crowbars. hammer claws fishing rods, hammer claws and even your own legs, as you stand on the hand brake of your car.

They are more secure in comparison to lever handles for doors because the locking function can only be accessed from the inside with a key unless the door is locked.
They are not as secure as a cylinder bolt but are an affordable alternative to add security. The only downside is that they don't offer the same level of protection as a cylinder lock and therefore don't block access to the home when the door is left open.

Lever/Snib
Lever latches, the simplest of all door handles, are used. The lever is pushed down to operate a simple latch inside the door that can be locked with a key. Some lever privacy handles operate based on this same principle however, with the addition of the lock snib (like the doorknob).
A snib button can be very useful, especially for homes where it's important to ensure privacy or security. You can use the snib feature to stop your guest from entering until they are prepared. This type handle is also used for interior doors, such as bedrooms, where you may require a lock to prevent access from outside.

In certain situations, snib buttons can cause problems, particularly if you have doors and locks that are distorted. If the snib button is used in error or by a person who isn't accustomed to it, the door may slam shut and lock you out. You can usually gain entry by knocking the door frame or letterbox. This is a very popular handle design for front doors. It comes with the advantage of preventing the door from being opened from the outside without keys if the lock is not deadlocked. This is accomplished by using a 'pad-shaped' external handle that locks into the gap between the handle and the lock case.
This type of handle is designed to fit uPVC doors fitted with multipoint locks which operate via split spindle technology. This type of operation requires that the lever handle and the external pad handle are both fitted to the same lock case.
